The brick entrance walls were donated by Lottie Tuck Nunn.
Virgilina Cemetery is located a mile west of the town of Virgilina on Highway 96.


The above sign was placed at the entrance by the
Virgilina Woman's Club and the Virgilina Ruritan Club.
The Virgilina Cemetery was started about 1840 when Rev. Craven died.


Open Air Amphitheater where Memorial Day Services are held at
11 o'clock A.M. on the 4th Sunday in May each year.



The Virgilina Women's Club is the Administrator of the Virgilina Cemetery.
Four counties are close to this cemetery:
  • Halifax County, VA
  • Mecklenburg Co., VA
  • Granville County, NC
  • Person County, NC


  • Memorial Day Service is the 4th Sunday in May at 11 o'clock A.M. In the event of rain the Service will be held at Union Christian Church in the Town of Virgilina.

  • Florence Avenue Baptist Church and Union Christian Church appoint a committee each year to get a speaker for the annual Memorial Day Service. This committee also sees that ushers representing each church are present at the service and the churches alternate in arranging special music. Those in the community who enjoy singing are encouraged to join the choir for the service.

  • The Virgilina American Legion Auxiliary puts American flags on the graves of all veterans each year and furnishes flowers for the service.

  • Roger Chandler volunteers his equipment and time to provide a sound system for the service.

  • Mrs. Beatrice T. Glascock furnishes the lectern built by her late husband, William Glascock.

    Cemetery Clean-Up Days are the first Saturday in May and first Saturday in December. Bring your work gloves and a rake - start time 8 AM.
